Sofia Puigserver Obituary, Death Cause – The lovely Sofia Puigserver The 26th of January, 2023 On January 26, 2023, Frank Sofia, who was fondly referred to as “S,” passed away and went to be with the Lord. On March 5, 1941, he was Lawrence and Rosaria (Scibilia) Sofia’s second son, and he was also their second child overall. His childhood was spent on the Northside of Syracuse, and he won a full scholarship to attend Le Moyne College, where he earned a degree in Education five years after graduating from North High School in 1959.
He also attended North High School. Before beginning his career as a teacher of Social Studies at Liverpool High School in 1965, he worked as a teacher for one year at St. John the Evangelist School. During the course of his 35-year teaching career, “S” became involved in a wide variety of school-wide activities. He started a pep club, advised the student council, and contributed to the establishment of a number of new traditions centered on school spirit.
Some of these traditions include the first senior lounge, the Welcome Frosh Dance, the annual bonfire, and homecoming floats. He also became identified with the LHS Alumni Association by becoming the go-to guy for class reunions, producing a newsletter for grads titled “The Smoke Signal,” and hosting an annual alumni dinner dance. All of these things contributed to him becoming a household name.
In addition to that, he was a coach and a mentor for the LHS Varsity Club. Before he retired from teaching in the year 2000, he left an impression on a great number students and their lives. Soon after that, he was requested to come back to his previous position as the LHS stadium coordinator, where he worked each game and was known as the largest fan of the Liverpool Warriors. Up until the year 2020, he served in that capacity.
