M3 Crash Winchester – The southbound lanes of the M3 had to be closed because of a serious collision that occurred while emergency services were responding to the scene. As a direct consequence of this, Winchester is going through a period of “severe disruption.” On May 16, just after 10:45 in the morning, it was reported to the police that a van and truck had been involved in a collision on the southbound portion of the M3 near Winchester. The accident was reported to have occurred on the southbound portion of the highway.
Due to the presence of emergency services at the scene, the roadway that runs between junctions nine and eleven has been closed down. Significant delays are being caused as a result of the large number of motorists that are attempting to access the central business district of Winchester in order to get past the closed route. There are considerable traffic delays on the bulk of the roadways in the central business district, including Andover Road, Worthy Road, North Walls, Friarsgate, and Chesil Street.
Bus service throughout the entirety of the city has been disrupted as a result. Stagecoach has just sent out the following message through Twitter: “Due to the closure of the M3, we are now experiencing severe disruption to all services in and around the City.” Our apologies.
