Jolene Mondragon Obituary, Death Cause – Jolene Teresa Mondragon, who was 55 years old and a resident of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away in the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton on May 15, 2023. On the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 7:00 PM, a celebration of her life will take place at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, with Reverend Mike Newago serving as the officiant. At the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home on Thursday, the family will be there to greet friends from five in the afternoon until seven in the evening.
After that, she worked at Walmart, first in the pharmacy, then in the vision care department, and finally she oversaw the food service at the Holiday Inn Express. Jolene worked in the lunch program at Yankton High School for a total of 17 years, and for the last several of those years, she held the position of head cook. Jolene adored baking as much as she did cooking, and she was always happy to feed others. In addition to that, she enjoyed reading, going for walks, and taking care of her plants.
Jolene’s parents were Joe Vitek and JoAnn (Lane) List, and she was born on November 14, 1967 in Yankton, South Dakota. She attended Yankton High School and graduated with the class of 1986 after spending her childhood in the city of Yankton. She relocated to New Jersey after graduation and worked as a nanny for a few different families there before returning to her hometown of Yankton. Both as a waitress and alongside her father in the family business, she ran an ice cream truck.
Jolene was an extremely generous and selfless person. She never considered her personal requirements, instead prioritizing those of others at all times. Jolene valued her family above all else, especially her children and grandkids, and she cherished the time she got to spend with them. Her grandparents and her son, Jaime Mondragon, passed away before she did. Jolene was the last of her family to pass away.
