On the 25th of January, 2021, Joanne Morales, who was 80 years old and from Ocala, Florida, passed away at West Marion Hospital. She was the daughter of George Hathaway, who passed away, and Cornelia Hathaway, who was born on August 13, 1940. Before moving to the Dunnellon, Florida area in 2004, JoAnne was born and raised in the state of New Jersey. She received her high school diploma from West Orange High School and was an involved member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair, New Jersey. She took the stage both as a member of their Choir and as an Organist for their performances.
After the passing of her devoted husband John Morales in 2008, Joann became involved in various organizations in Florida, including the Cracker Quilter’s Guild, the Creative Quilters of Citrus County, the Lady Journey Seekers, and the Citrus County L.I.F.T. After John’s passing, Joanne moved to Oak Bend Village in Dunnellon, Florida, where she became involved in many community events and developed close, mutually supportive relationships with her neighbours. She had just recently moved to The Bridge at Ocala and was a member of The First United Church in Dunnellon before making the move.
JoAnne is survived by her daughter Lori Nofer and grandsons John Monnett, Michael Monnett, and Jason Tyler of Southbury, Connecticut. She is also survived by her daughter Teri Nofer of Baltimore, Maryland and grandsons Andrew O’Loughlin of Tempe, Arizona, and Eric O’Loughlin of Manchester, Connecticut. JoAnne was a loving mother and grandmother who will be much missed.
