Helen Toth Obituary

Helen Toth Obituary, Death Cause – Helen Toth, who was one of Hamilton’s first female uniformed police officers, loved her profession so much that in order to maintain her position for as long as possible after becoming pregnant, she did all in her power to conceal the fact that she was expecting. It was the year 1962 that Toth gave birth to her first child, a girl named Carla. Because there was no such thing as maternity leave in those days, she had no choice but to quit her job when she became pregnant with Carla. It wasn’t until 1971 that Canada started offering paid maternity leave to its citizens.

Toth, who passed away on April 6 at the age of 85 in Henderson, Nevada, joined the police force on January 9, 1959, when he was 21 years old and had previously worked as a teller in a part-time capacity. Irene Glachan, 25, and Delores Eitel, 24, both registered nurses, were also sworn in on that same day. Glachan works in an office, and Eitel works at a hospital.

Starr Andreeff, a Hollywood producer and former actress, stated that her mother removed the buttons from her police jacket so that her stomach would not be shown. “My mom removed the buttons on her police jacket so that they wouldn’t show her tummy,” she added. “She had no intention of giving up. She continued to conceal it despite repeated warnings from the chief, who eventually called her in and told her, “I think it’s time.” She managed to keep it a secret for as long as she could. It broke her heart that she had to go, but she had no choice.
