Dorothy Scott Obituary, Death Cause – Dorothy Jane Scott was a sole caretaker for her only child and was content with the unremarkable existence she led. When someone started following her around, her life went from being predictable to being unpredictable. It started out with strange and compulsive phone calls, and it progressively got worse from there. After that, he continued to harass her parents by calling them at obscene hours of the night.
She was the cherished wife of Malcolm, who passed away. Beloved mother and mother-in-law to Andrew, Val, and Myles and Marie; cherished grandmother of Michelle and Rodney and Thomas; Harry and Maddie; and great-grandmother to Skyla and Van. She got married to Robert G. Scott in 1956, the same year that she received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Ithaca College.
Dottie enjoyed watching the Big Red play ice hockey, football, and other sports at Cornell University, where she worked for thirty years as an administrative assistant in the Department of Athletics. She eventually resigned from her position there. Dottie’s life was greatly enriched by the contribution of music. She participated in the Ithaca Community Chorus and the Harmony Falls women’s barbershop chorus in addition to being a member of the chancel choir and playing the handbells at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ithaca, New York. She also enjoyed being a part of the church’s handbell choir. She spent her winters in Florida, where she was a member of the choir at the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and also participated in the handbell choir at that church.
