C.R. Free Obituary, Death Cause – Free Jr., age 79, was a resident of New Castle, and he passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was the son of Hucy Phillip Free, Sr. and Eva Lamberson and was born on July 2, 1942 in the city of Ashland in the state of Indiana. Phillip graduated from Walter P. Memorial Chrysler High School in 1960. During his time at Walter P. Memorial Chrysler High School, Phillip served in the National Guard for a period of nine months. After that, he joined the United States Air Force and served there from 1960 until 1965.
During that time, he was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base, which is located in Homestead, Florida. North Africa was his duty station for the final two years of his military service. After 33 and a half years of service, Phillip took his retirement from Guide Lamp in the year 1998. In addition to that, he served the community as a firefighter for the Ingalls Volunteer Fire Department. Phillip was a member of the Mason Lodge #101, the American Legion, and the Shrine Club in Greenfield, Indiana. He also belonged to the VFW Post 266 in Anderson, Indiana.
He attained the rank of 32nd degree mason and was a part of the 391st local lodge. Additionally, he attended services at the Whittier Lane Baptist Church, which is located in New Castle.
